Sofia is a 2024 UCL graduate doctor from Finland with a keen interest in surgery and a strong passion for teaching and mentorship. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Immunology, Infection & Cell Pathology from UCL, which she completed with First Class Honours. Her academic background reflects a solid foundation in research, and she remains actively involved in clinical research projects.
Having successfully applied to medical school in the UK as an international student, Sofia understands the unique challenges faced by overseas applicants — including entrance exams, personal statements, and interviews — and is well-equipped to guide students through every stage of the process.
Throughout medical school and her foundation training, Sofia has taught both medical students and junior doctors. She has led teaching workshops in collaboration with the plastic surgery department, helping resident doctors develop essential clinical and procedural skills. She is currently involved in teaching Cambridge medical students as part of their clinical placement, with students highlighting the value of her sessions in their formal feedback following placement.
In addition to her teaching work, she serves as the regional foundation doctor representative for her area, advocating for training and education across multiple hospitals. Sofia is committed to helping aspiring medical students build confidence, strengthen their applications, and gain a realistic and informed understanding of a career in medicine.
